The Rees Hotel’s specialist Film Unit Liaison Manager, Micka McDonald, can assist in arranging all of your production accommodation needs.

The Rees boasts some of the biggest hotel rooms and apartments in the Wakatipu Basin, all with secure underground parking, high-speed internet, and a team that has dealt with film crews and knows what is expected of them.

Large production offices/apartments with parking outside the door, great views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkable Mountains, and one of the best dining rooms in New Zealand.

The shooting of international television commercials and large-budget films has helped to build a legacy of expertise in Queenstown. Films like 10,000 BC, Lord of the Rings, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Vertical Limit and most recently the Bollywood hit, I Hate Luv Stories are testament to the area’s scenic potential. Queenstown also offers one of the highest concentrations of film and TVC professionals in New Zealand. These companies are using the latest in equipment and technology to produce a huge range of film, features, television, TVC or stills productions.

My apologies for not responding with some feedback from our stay prior to the one we spent with you the weekend just gone, but clearly as we returned to your establishment for a second time, we were more than pleased and impressed from when we stayed with you at the end of April.

On this latest job, we were fortunate enough to have a second with you, and can only offer bouquets to all members of the Rees staff who we dealt with over this time. One thing I’ve never been able to abide of other companies in our industry is the fact that they accommodate their crews in the cheapest possible places they can find… even though the crews always work their guts out on these shoots. Though the cost of accommodating the entire crew comes out of my pocket, being the owner of the agency and prod company producing the recent spate of TVC’s, one thing I always ensure is that my crews have above average accommodation to rest and recharge… I’m happy to say that whenever we happen to find ourselves shooting in Queenstown we will be WITHOUT FAIL staying at The Rees.

Faultless at every turn. We look forward to the next time we’re passing through.
